POWDER!!!!!

The other night I could barely sleep... I was ready to go but sadly it was 4 hours until the mountain was ready to open and I was riding out the alcohol in my system from the night before. The snow had been pounding the mountain for almost a solid twelve hours and I couldn't wait for the mountain to open for an epic powder day... life is good

DAY COUNT THUS FAR FOR DAYS ON MY SNOWBOARD.... 12

number should continue to grow drastically after New Years.

Jonny is Walkin

Tomorrow is the first day of my move to England. I have an apartment in Birmingham awaiting me for the next 6 months and some travel plans already in the works. Before leaving once again I had to have a night in my hometown.

This is a shot of Mr. Walker "walking"

I then went back to Snowshoe to have a last night with some friends. I didn't expect to run into one of my best friends from growing up and I really didn't expect this picture to happen.

Then it was time to say goodbye before heading back home to pack.

I am going to miss my sweet living arrangements ant Snowshoe.

Lew me know if you plan on "walking" toward England yourself...

I don't want to pack - I want to ride

Now that my short trip to Snowshoe is over and I am packing and working on my thesis (yes I secretly go to school) all I really want to do is get one last day in on Sunday (and maybe a wild night on Saturday).

Bob on Lower Shea's

Me and Tanner in Bob's goggles.

Bob and I liftin it.

That being said I might shirk all responsibilities and go back tomorrow only to have to charge home late Sunday and do some heavy packing before flying out of DC on Tuesday en route to England.

At the Shoe

I had to get some boarding in before I head to the flat land of England. I met up with Bob for some time on the mountain at Snowshoe.

We started the morning out right.

Bob spent some time in the halfpipe. (yes they actually have a pipe at the shoe this year)

And I met up with some friends from South America at night.

All in all, a good trip.

Leaving the Mountain

My return to the mountain this year was very short-lived. With all the issues with housing and the pressing need for me to focus my efforts on my thesis I decided that it was in my best interest to not work this season.

Here is the cheesy video of heading out.

This will give me the time to focus on school and to start planning and packing for my European leg of the adventure that is slated to start sometime in January. Wish me luck.

Living in Hell

My season on the mountain has begun and I have just ranked bottom of the mountain employee housing. This means that I have to commute up and down the mountain to sleep and shower. This would be fine if the roads weren't constantly snow covered and icy, and I had no social life.

Right now I am staying in a hotel room that has no refrigerator, no means of cooking (minus the iron), and internet only if I put my computer in the windowsill. There are 2 beds, but I have the feeling that a roommate is to come. If that is the case, this could be a very short season for this guy.

First Runs on the Mountain 08-09 - Video

Bob and I started out season today. Granted I was boarding in Chile just about 2 months ago, but it is great to be back on my board again.

I left Bode to guard beer for someone else next season.

Packed stuff.

Last view of the apartment.

Hopefully I will either be traveling or working somewhere exotic next season, but there is a chance I might be back

My last day off.

Just a little video of my last "day" off up here on the mountain. The night is another story. I had to get my homework done so that is why I am on the computer so much.

Roomate gets stuck

The other day at Snowcreek we found some sweet stickers of the $1 variety. It was immediately decided that "The Shaw Mobile" had to feel the full blunt of such an attack. The stickers ranged everywhere from the "I know what boys like" to "Boyfriend Challenged".

Here is the driver of the "The Shaw Mobile", "The Bob". He has been a bit of a douche lately.

Damn what a Hottie

The finished backside

We will never know who the culprit was...

A dark, dark picture. The crime was done in the cover of night.

I am certain that he deserved it. (If you don't believe so just take another look at the picture at the top... he deserves whatever is coming to him.) His friend drove it for a day or so before either of them realized that they were on there... he then thought I had done it in the parking lot outside of the apartment. Talk about oblivious.

Starbucks

Current Reading:

"Kolb's model argues that learning occurs through a process that might begin with a concrete experience, which leads to reflective observation about the experience. The next stage is abstract conceptualization, in which people apply models, paradigms, strategies, and metaphors to the results of the experience. Active experimentation concludes the cycle as the concepts are then put into practice, thus generating new concrete experience."

Fun, fun. I know that had to be as fun for you as it was for me. I am spending part of my Sunday sitting at Starbucks figuring out what the five page paper I am writing is supposed to be on. This is a little sad because my paper is due by midnight tonight. (This excludes the fact that I have a staff party at 7 pm so I have to finish up before that).

The Starbucks here is a little different from others due to the fact that my stuff is heavily discounted because I am an employee and I flirted a little bit with the girl at the register. Also there is only one here so it isn't your typical city view of this.

Other than that, nothing new... stayed in last night, got in some snowboarding early this morning, getting ready to head somewhere else to focus more on the paper. Updates and pics from today posted another time.

Here are some of the pics from my skiing adventure.

So for the first time in 11 years I took out some skis. I knew that I needed some sweet gear to celebrate the occasion. I rocked a D.A.R.E. t-shirt to show my support for the kids and some clothing that was remisicent of 1996 (AKA the last time I might have had skis on). Howard and Danny also got in on the action. Howard transformed into Howie the second he got his gear on.

Some stretching to start the day.

Then we were straight rockin it.

Howie cruzin

Just another day for the brothers Tarpey.

What's up baby

Man Down

Consider the spot owned

I am pretty sure I am jammin to Hall and Oates in this pic. Friggin Sweet

All in all, the day was a success. We even busted a few sweet tricks... I don't think I will be givin up my snowboards anytime soon, but I might need to bust out the gear from time to time.

Last Days

Another week at the shoe and another group of internationals goin home (AKA deported to Cuba)

Sergio enjoyed the final hours of his stay

FJ just wanted somebody to spoon him

Diogo and Julie chilled and had a few beers... the dude on the right got drunk and wanted to fight this guy. Douche

Julie was a little bummed out

And who knows, maybe the South will rise again. Only this time it will be in South America. Damn redneck roomates.

The Last Khaki Run with the Serg

I was busy "working" one day

On decorating my laptop

When sergio showed up with the amazing Belen and said "Hey loser, let's make one last sweet run in our khakis."

Soon we had our boards and some sweet gloves that worked well with out khakis so we headed out.

Believe it or not we were victorious. Khaki Run number 3 completed. HIGH FIVE

Adios Australia

It has been a few days since the Australians (most of them) left the mountain. Their last night was a Tuesday and they were in typical form. This guy was even elected the official Lakewood Shuttle Driver. Here are some photo highlights from the night. The rest of the pics should be in the photobucket account shortly.

Easier to start at the end of the night first and try to remember it all. (Note: I was the driver so I wasn't drinking. Just thought I should note that incase my mother decides to do some reading.) Hi mom.

The Bob gave some creepy love...

Then Bob got some love

(These people seem to be having a good time: Adios Marshy and Stef)

(OK so Gregg is South African, but he can still make the Blog)
