Volcano... not a problem

The Pacaya Volcano rests an hour from Antigua, Guatemala (my current location) Needless to say I had to hike it.

Here is a view of the active volcano. I had already hiked about 30 mins to get here.

The ascent toward the top was almost stupid due to the sheer lack of safety equipment so I loved it. Too many waivers in the US. Granted the guy that broke his ankle might think otherwise.
At the top I melted my shoes a bit while standing on recently hardened lava, but did get to roast a marshmallow. Of course by then it was getting dark and I had to make the descent in the dark sliding down a very loose and steep slope once again without a cable.

I did bring my iPOD and thought that Nirvana's Lake of Fire fit the occasion. Now to look toward Mexico to finish my month-long journey.

Pre Memorial Day Cookout

To start off Memorial Day Weekend we went to the Umberger's for a little cook-out and some pool. Russel and his lady took on Team Gimp.

Bob Rocked it.

Team Gimp 4 games ... Russel Athletic 0

Then they built a crazy bonfire that nearly set some trees on fire

I couldn't hold my camera straight and it appears that they set some people on fire.

Bob was amazed.

Recently I have taken some pics that I really have nothing to do with so I thought I would throw a few of them online.

I have been driving up to five miles at a time.

I have been hanging out a lot with Bob and Hector.

The other night I built a fire (I did so with my thumb).

I had Bob bring my laptop to the fire so there could be music.

Friend of the Family Brenda and James made it to the fire as well. Apparently Brenda was afraid of my amazing fire.

Other than that, no other big news. I do have big aspirations of cleaning out my car today. Just living the dream.
