My summer

OK, so I realize it is still a little early to actually talk about my summer thus far, but the weather jumped from a foot of snow to hot conditions. Granted, the last week of straight rain and humidity has not been the greatest but to me it is only summer and winter which is sad because I like the cooler air of the spring and fall.


I really haven't documented as much as I should have, but here is a quick summary of what I have been doing (excluding the work aspect of the whole thing).

I have been trying to spend some time outdoors

I did spend some time in my vacation house...


and relaxed in my backyard...


I have been hanging out with some friends...


and focusing my efforts on getting back in shape.... (just note the arm workout and balance training)


So far this summer is a flying by, but not like the last couple I have enjoyed in South America and Europe respectively. I have been working, which "work" is still my least favorite four-letter-word, but I hope to have enough funds pooled here shortly to head back out again on the travel. Wish me luck.

Recovering from the Beach - Camping Night 2

On night two of camping I donned this sweet camo hat and dialed in for a good night

Josh donned the hat as well, but his lack of visible facial hair caused it to continuously jump off of his head.

Of course after we had already crashed 2 more people showed up... we were way too lazy to get back up.

Now that the short camping trip is over I am slightly motivated to accomplish some of the things I need to. I did manage to spend a couple of hours studying Spanish while I was out there so all in all - "Great Success"

Camping in July 08

After the beach I took a night off at home and then realized I needed a vacation so I packed up and headed out on a camping trip.

Some serious packing happened.


When we got there it was raining so we hung out in the picnic shelter for a while

It was really nice today

I made some serious Buffalo Shrimp

they were delicious

Now I am back at the house doing my online class and getting ready to head back to the camp for the night. It is rough being this guy

So the other night I went camping with some friends... like 15 people or so. We got there while it was still daylight so I helped Bob set up his tent.

There was even "a" girl there. If you look closely you can see a can of Schlitz in the picture as well... high rollin.

To start the night properly Josh decided that it was his time to show his appreciation for Michigan. (If you don't know WVU sports you just don't understand). If you want to search Google for "Coach" "WVU" "Michigan". It is a start

After the demonstration Josh was OK, but I think Mr. Myers was suspect of him.

Bob and Aaron were happy as well.

To end the night we wrapped Mr. Myers in a large piece of aluminum foil and put him in the fire so he could keep warm during the night.

This guy opted for the nicer/dryer car sleeping. I just put up the tent to show that I could do it.

Camping Day 4

It is now night number 4 in my tent and tonight I settled in for a little 007. Yes the classic for the N64 is making a huge comeback. It is now official, I am in my mid-twenties, unemployed, single, and living in a tent in my parents back yard. Take that SAT scores.

I am not sure how many days the tent will make it but I am enjoying the ride. I have plenty of space and extra mats if you want to do some camping and multiple controllers for the N64. Let me know if you want in so I can book you a spot. jonnywalks@gmail.com

Camping again in style

I was talking to Bob about how to improve my tent and he said "I'll make some phone calls."

He must have called someone important cuz now my tent is tricked out with a tv and a Nintendo 64
Now the tent is tricked out

Tonight will be night number 3 in the tent for this guy. PS I am also writing this blog from it right now.

Camping Urban Style

So last night around 10 o'clock it was decided that me and Bob would go camping. It was at first a joke, but went way overboard.

The two gimps managed to set up this tent in my backyard.

Bob was stoked

Nothing says camping like grilling microwave pizzas over on open fire.

I was the chef

We even had a mini-keg for camping authenticity.

We should have taken more than three blankets... needless to say it kinda got cold in the morning, but we survived.

Now if I can get power and entertainment out to the tent I will be in business.
