Lima - Futbol and Abandoning the Guitar
Now back in Lima and 7 months after hitting a tree snowboarding and shattering my leg I finally played a little futbol in South America. It was a game done through the Loki hostel here in Miraflores that I have spent so much time in over the past few months. The play was a little poor on my part, but in the end I walked off without assistance so all is good, just don't tell my doctor.

Also today I gifted my guitar to the hostel. I threw the website address on the bottom and put my email on it incase anyone gets some good bar pics with it. If I get any I will be sure to post them here on the blog.

Arequipa
I fled Cusco last night to keep myself from staying for months. I bought a last second bus ticket to Arequipa Peru en route to Santiago Chile. I had the pleasure of saving 3 dollars American and got to ride in the economy section of the bus. There might as well have been live chickens running around on the overnight 10 hour bus.
Now me and some friends from Essex England, but claiming to be from London are watching three consecutive football matches.
We checked into the hostel at 7 this morning and haven't left the tv room.

Jamie and James

The DVD wall that might be the plan.

We have also hatched a plan to catch another bus tonight. This would mean that my stay in Arequipa, the second largest city in Peru, lasted about 12 hours. Wish me luck.

Loki Cusco
Here are a few shots from inside Loki Hostel in Cusco. It is definitely different than the friendly confines of Loki Lima, but I can see how it grows on people. I am booking my train to Machu Picchu at the moment for 6am tomorrow. I really wish I had some form of alarm clock.

Last Night in Lima
It was my last night in Lima so I had to do it up big. With a flight at 2pm the next day I aforded myself the chance to go out and see more of Lima.
This is my idea of a good picture. The club was on the beach and if you sat out back the ocean almost touch the retaining wall. On the other side were the massive cliffs that separate the beach from the city. I do however realize that I need to learn how to dance down here. If South Americans aren't dancing they are not living.

When I made it back to Loki Hostel my "friends" decided to reopen the bar for one last hurrah. I hate/love them for it. I will always remember working there.

Proper Cuisine
After living for 2+ weeks on bar food and the menu economico at all the local restaurants (2 to 3 dollars american for two courses and a drink) I decided it was time for a proper meal. The english menus down here can be quite funny.
I had to order the earth and sea from the birds and meats section.

Suhail and Helen joined me.

I also ordered an appetizer of eggplant wrapped around mozzarella with dried tomato topping.

Here is what the spread looked like.

Despite its fancy appearance, the food was not amazing and I now have challenged myself to find a better meal for under 3 dollars American as I travel... wish me luck

Rockin it out with Cookie Monster
Only in a hostel do you end up making friends like this. I really can't explain it. I think the picture speaks for itself.
Late the other night we went to Sargento Pimientos (Sargent Pepper's) in Barranco. It is a different experience from the bars in the US because it was so simple (concrete dirty floor, poorly kept facilities, and bartenders that try and gouge a little extra cash out of you) now that I think of it, it is exactly like the US. While inside I met quite a few Peruvians that were very nice. My spanish is slowly evolving.
Quite the staged photo.

Lima Update...
I am having a blast in Lima right now. It is more like a vacation than an adventure though. I am sure that is all going to change as time goes on though and I start exploring more.
The other day some friends and I hit a cigar bar and enjoyed a cuban... yes a real cuban in south america right off the beach

Sean, Dwight and Fernando went with me.

Then to add to the nightlife i picked up a guitar at a store. It cost less that $30 and is a total piece of crap, but it plays so I am in love with it.
Late last night we went to the bar to celebrate Sean's birthday. I knew it was his birthday because he told me over a hundred times.
As for now I am starting to meet up with my friends from here and have set up a home base at Loki Hostel. I am still planning on where I am going next and I am thinking cusco, la paz, and then down to Santiago via bus tour. Well it is a rough idea.
