New Kicks

I had aspirations of my last pair of shoes being the only shoes that I wore until I made it around the world... needless to say, plans have changed. The last pair of shoes were indoor soccer shoes /runners. I love the shoes but they didn't have any traction and seeing as how I busted my ass twice before I even got my leg splinted I needed a little extra traction. I found these online for $28 dollars. They are also unholy bright so nobody can say I didn't see your foot there and run into it. (oddly enough when somebody kicks your foot while you have a broken leg it kinda hurts). These bad boys have all the traction I need.

Note the obnoxious color

The traction

They stick out like a lighthouse and say don't run into me drunk people.

I will do something someday...

Needless to say the last few days on the couch have been less than blog-worthy, but then again who am I to decide. Other than getting crazy cabin-fever I have been out a couple of times but carrying myself has taken priority over carrying my camera. I am sure something exciting will come up in the future... it always does.

The Doc Appointment in the Burg - Warning Graphic Images

SO I finally saw a doctor that did more than just glimpse at my X-rays. The one out West told me that I would probably need surgery and may need months before I could walk again so I was pretty intimidated to go get checked out.

The wait wasn't too long

When I got in the back I had to strike a sexy pose.

Then I chose to sick with this one. Really the thumbs up came after the doc told me that I had an odd break pattern but that my bones were very strong because it should have shattered it. He also said that there was a possibility that I would start physical therapy in 3 weeks with no surgery.

Then it was time to change my splint over to a brace. When they unwrapped it the stench was epic. Try and imagine while looking at the next image.

The nurse actually went and got the doc again to look at it a second time. I really just think the smell shocked her. The next pic is where the blood pooled in my leg in a pattern left by the bandages.

This is just a great image. My mom took this one.

After it was cleaned up it looked a lot better.

After it was re-bandaged it didn't look bad at all except for the yellow color and a little bruising.

My mother stood by the whole time... I think the smell will haunt her dreams for a while.

I now have a new brace that allows me a whole 20 degrees of movement through my knee, since the doc believes that my ACL might still be in one piece. YAAAY

So it appears that I will be kicking it around Lewisburg for a while so if you feel like driving me places just let me know. It is kinda hard to push the gas with a non-weight bearing leg. All in all a good day at the docs office. I got some new drugs, a new brace, and some good news. Oh yeah, sorry for the graphic images but that is what was going on with my life. All the pics should be up on the photobucket within the next day or so.

I noticed that my grandfather has been rockin this sweet chair recently so with my new injury I wondered how to get one. I found one.

I did have to go to this place

Inside the doors I was given this fantastic set-up.

I also found how to heal my boo-boo

This is a video of me rolling.

Home

This is my new set-up on the couch at home. Bout to spend a few weeks here.

Last Views of Colorado.

The last thing I did in Colorado was ride the shuttle to the airport. This is a view from the car.

My leg was there

All in all not too bad of a ride

I think this is where that Genessee Beer is made. At least that is what I like to believe.

This is Gizella she did what most did and slept the trip away. I had to keep the leg elevated so no sleep til airport.

Then I was at the airport and my very expensive Colorado trip was over.

Doc bills $800 plus

Stomped on laptop

Shuttle to airport $55

Memories (might sell to help pay for future doc bills)

Scars (gonna be sweet)

Days at Winter Park

So I was at Winter Park 3 days after the accident and my leg looked like this, not to mention thay I couldn't walk on it at all so I decided to get some x-rays taken. (Pics put online later)

Needless to say I broke my tibula in 2 places. One of which is where your ACL attaches so I was a little out of luck. They said the swelling was really bad so they splinted it. It lloks so pretty.

That didn't stop me from going to the bar though. THese guys convinced me it was 200 yards away. So about a half a mile later on ice we made it there.

I was victorious

First I beat this guy in pool. I thought all people from Chicago were good at pool and bowling. I beat him on one leg.

The bar was pretty vacant, but we still had fun. PBR was on special for $2 a can... not a great special, but I loves me some PBR

I did get a ride back to the hostel from a girl named Indigo that worked there, but I still had to make it up these stairs in the dark.

Two days later I was heading out early in the morning after using some SkyMiles to fly home earlier than anticipated.

Luckily I had help with my bag from this guy.

And of course these two were there as well.

All in all I think I made the right decision by staying in Colorado for the extra time. I kept my leg elevated and met some pretty decent people in the process. The Rocky Mountain Inn and Hostel is where I stayed and if you are in the Winter Park area I reccomend it if you want to stay fairly cheap and clean.

The Big Ouch

This is how ti all happened at Steamboat. The first day was good, but the second day will stick with me for a while. 4-6 weeks minimum.

We were starting day 2 at Steamboat. This is the Gondola Building.

This is Shaw... he saw powder and left without us a whole 10 mins before we did. We were supposed to meet up with him at 11... never happened.

We got there and rushed to this run... double black extreme. (Not where I got injured)

I did get some good pictures there. All are on the photobucket account in the Out West folder.

After lloking for Shaw at 11 we went out to make a few runs. I didn't make many. A little before 2 vI caught a stump under the powder and got slung into this tree. I crawled out of the woods to the lift to get ski patrol.

My leg looked a little rough considering that it didn't even rip my pants. I did however find out why Shaw never met up with us. This is a picture of the setup that Shaw was taken to the Emergnecy Room on. I knew it wouldn't be long until he came back to get his board.

These are the x-rays of his broken arm

He came back to get his board and found me. We really need to own cell phones.

This guy had to carry me to the car. He didn't get injured but will need surgery for a damaged shoulder so he is part of the gimp squad.

I didn't think I had hurt my leg that bad so I hobbled away from Steamboat.

The pictures of the trip are all up on photobucket. More blogs to come, but using the computer is a little uncomfortable at the moment.

Out of Comission

So while at Steamboat I knida ran into a tree after catching my board on a stump. I am now at Winter Park 3 days later and I just got back from a Doc appointment. Needless to say I broke my right Tibia in 2 places and I am out of comission for at least 4 to 6 weeks. I have some footage from directly after the wreck and some pics and x-rays of the whole thing, but somebody stomped on my laptop or sumthin because the screen is thrashed so it will be a few days until I can get it all updated. I am back home Tuesday night so that might be the next time I am back on the net. Hope to hear from everyone soon.
