Out of Comission

So while at Steamboat I knida ran into a tree after catching my board on a stump. I am now at Winter Park 3 days later and I just got back from a Doc appointment. Needless to say I broke my right Tibia in 2 places and I am out of comission for at least 4 to 6 weeks. I have some footage from directly after the wreck and some pics and x-rays of the whole thing, but somebody stomped on my laptop or sumthin because the screen is thrashed so it will be a few days until I can get it all updated. I am back home Tuesday night so that might be the next time I am back on the net. Hope to hear from everyone soon.

En Route To Steamboat

Early Wednesday the 26th we packed up some of our gear and headed toward Steamboat Springs Colorado. My trip was laid out for Copper - Steamboat - Copper - Winter Park. Here are some of the views from the drive to Steamboat.

I know that there is some stuff I need to catch up on, but I figured I should at least post a glimpse of where I am at.

New Shoes

These are the new kicks that are to help me navigate the planet. Had to take a picture because I have a feeling that a few months from now they will be looking pretty rough.

Leaving Snowshoe

I am sure I will do a video about the season sometime soon, but here are some pics of the last morning at Snowshoe.

I spent the majority of the mornin packin up the rest of my stuff. Here are some clothes that weren't mine.

Kitchen Sink

I left Bode to guard beer for someone else next season.

Packed stuff.

Last view of the apartment.

Hopefully I will either be traveling or working somewhere exotic next season, but there is a chance I might be back

My last day off.

Just a little video of my last "day" off up here on the mountain. The night is another story. I had to get my homework done so that is why I am on the computer so much.

Roomate gets stuck

The other day at Snowcreek we found some sweet stickers of the $1 variety. It was immediately decided that "The Shaw Mobile" had to feel the full blunt of such an attack. The stickers ranged everywhere from the "I know what boys like" to "Boyfriend Challenged".

Here is the driver of the "The Shaw Mobile", "The Bob". He has been a bit of a douche lately.

Damn what a Hottie

The finished backside

We will never know who the culprit was...

A dark, dark picture. The crime was done in the cover of night.

I am certain that he deserved it. (If you don't believe so just take another look at the picture at the top... he deserves whatever is coming to him.) His friend drove it for a day or so before either of them realized that they were on there... he then thought I had done it in the parking lot outside of the apartment. Talk about oblivious.

Starbucks

Current Reading:

"Kolb's model argues that learning occurs through a process that might begin with a concrete experience, which leads to reflective observation about the experience. The next stage is abstract conceptualization, in which people apply models, paradigms, strategies, and metaphors to the results of the experience. Active experimentation concludes the cycle as the concepts are then put into practice, thus generating new concrete experience."

Fun, fun. I know that had to be as fun for you as it was for me. I am spending part of my Sunday sitting at Starbucks figuring out what the five page paper I am writing is supposed to be on. This is a little sad because my paper is due by midnight tonight. (This excludes the fact that I have a staff party at 7 pm so I have to finish up before that).

The Starbucks here is a little different from others due to the fact that my stuff is heavily discounted because I am an employee and I flirted a little bit with the girl at the register. Also there is only one here so it isn't your typical city view of this.

Other than that, nothing new... stayed in last night, got in some snowboarding early this morning, getting ready to head somewhere else to focus more on the paper. Updates and pics from today posted another time.

Here are some of the pics from my skiing adventure.

So for the first time in 11 years I took out some skis. I knew that I needed some sweet gear to celebrate the occasion. I rocked a D.A.R.E. t-shirt to show my support for the kids and some clothing that was remisicent of 1996 (AKA the last time I might have had skis on). Howard and Danny also got in on the action. Howard transformed into Howie the second he got his gear on.

Some stretching to start the day.

Then we were straight rockin it.

Howie cruzin

Just another day for the brothers Tarpey.

What's up baby

Man Down

Consider the spot owned

I am pretty sure I am jammin to Hall and Oates in this pic. Friggin Sweet

All in all, the day was a success. We even busted a few sweet tricks... I don't think I will be givin up my snowboards anytime soon, but I might need to bust out the gear from time to time.

Work

Work has crawled by today... I need an escape from the mountain. Looks like I will be heading off in a few days (that is if they ever get the road fixed).

Not sure where I'll be headed, just far far away.

Birthday

It was time for a birthday again because my parents got it on nine months or so before March 4, many many years ago. The full run of picutes are on my photobucket account.

I started the night out at Hoot's where a lot of people bought me drinks and I got some free games of pool in and then played some darts. (note the sweet power line in the side of my head... once again, screw you BOB.)

Then we rolled back to the crib and pregamed for the rest of the night. I was grillin the camera.

We then went to Ember. Somebody at another table got this desert, but we were told it was too late to order food. Howard got a little pissed.

Luckily Foxfire was willing to serve us. I even got some birthday cake. I am not sure exactly where it came from but it was delicious. I am pretty sure that Zana made it all happen.

Zana owned the cake and Dustin just spaced out.

Then these guys got some wings... Howard is a vegetarian (when he is sober)

While we were wingin it, that guy was destroying the cake. Howard did not approve and Bob was jealous.

I don't really have an explanation for this picture.

D

All in all, a great night. Not too bad of a hangover and woke up to snow. The resort life is tough. Can't wait to make it to Colorado at the end of the month.

Last Days

Another week at the shoe and another group of internationals goin home (AKA deported to Cuba)

Sergio enjoyed the final hours of his stay

FJ just wanted somebody to spoon him

Diogo and Julie chilled and had a few beers... the dude on the right got drunk and wanted to fight this guy. Douche

Julie was a little bummed out

And who knows, maybe the South will rise again. Only this time it will be in South America. Damn redneck roomates.
